The Bali Geckos Australian Rules football club is pleased to announce it will be holding the Bali 9’s Australian Rules Football Championship on Saturday 8th October 2011.
Following the success of The 2011 Powerade Bali Masters 9s in June 2011, which has evolved into one of the world’s biggest Australian Rules event outside of Australia with 18 teams competing, the Championships will adopt this same hugely successful 9-a-side format. To be held at Bali’s premier recreational facility the Canggu Club, the event is open to teams from all across the globe, with no age restrictions it is expected to have a very strong representation from Australian and Asian football teams.
With teams normally fielding 18 players on a field twice as large as a soccer pitch, the 9-a-side format on a soccer pitch is an extreme modification of the normal game. It creates a fast, high scoring game that has been replicated in tournaments around the globe. The current schedule will have the Championships played on a single day, however should the team confirmations exceed 12 teams, then the draw will be modified to allow games to be played over two days, with the grand final being played under lights.
Attached is the flyer showing event details, and all interested teams are encouraged to register for the event as soon as possible, as teams may have to be limited to suit the draw, dependent on confirmations. The 2011 Bali 9s Australian Rules Football Championship will be held at the Canggu Club on Saturday October 8 2011.
